Dominic Dale fought back from 3-1 down to beat unranked fellow Welshman Alfie Davies and reach the Welsh Open third round at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

Davies, 23, made a 125 break in frame one as he took control of the match, but Dale responded to level at 3-3 before edging a tense finale.

Kyren Wilson suffered a shock defeat as he was beaten 4-1 by Anthony Hamilton.

Graeme Dott is through after a 4-2 win over Wu Yize and will face Luca Brecel, who beat Joe O’Connor 4-0.

Reflecting on his win, Dale, who is ranked 49th in the world, said: “I’m delighted to have won because I think the ball was in Alfie’s court really.

“I didn’t play a good first frame, but the red he knocked in to start that 125, I think it was… I don’t know how many players would have gone for that.”
