Welsh Open snooker: Defending champion Robert Milkins edges Jamie Jones in decider

Defending champion Robert Milkins edged a final-frame decider to beat Jamie Jones 4-3 in the first round of the Welsh Open in Llandudno.

Welshman Jones hit breaks of 72, 136 and 90 to lead 3-2 but Milkins hit back with a 75 and 55 to progress.

Former champion Ding Junhui is also through to the second round after beating England’s Jason Kendrick 4-2.

China’s Zhang Anda, ranked 13th in the world, saw off American Ahmed Aly Elsayed 4-1.

World number 17 Jack Lisowski beat fellow Englishman Oliver Brown 4-2.
