Rory McIlroy will play in the Irish Open when the tournament returns to Royal County Down in September.
The world number two missed the cut when the Irish Open was last played at the Newcastle links course in 2015.
McIlroy’s sole victory in the event came at the K Club in 2016.
The four-time major winner, 34, finished joint 16th at the K Club in 2023 with Sweden’s Vincent Norrman winning by a shot to claim his second DP World Tour title.
This year’s Irish Open will take place 12-15 September.
McIlroy has opened his 2024 season in fine style, successfully defending his Dubai Desert Classic title on Sunday after finishing runner-up to Tommy Fleetwood in the inaugural Dubai Invitational the previous week.
Denmark’s Soren Kjeldsen won when Royal County Down staged the tournament in 2015, beating England’s Eddie Pepperell and Austrian Bernd Wiesberger in a play-off.
