Masters 2024: Ronnie O’Sullivan wins but Ali Carter criticises ‘some morons’ in Alexandra Palace crowd

Carter led 6-3 after winning the first frame of an evening session in which fellow Englishman O’Sullivan won seven of the next eight frames to claim the title.

Former players and BBC Sport pundits Steve Davis and John Parrott discussed the crowd at the end of the 14th frame during the coverage on BBC Two.

“It’s tough for both players when you get silly comments,” said Davis.

“You like support and the crowd enjoying the shots but not the stupid comments.”

Carter is the world number 10 and had previously been beaten by O’Sullivan in the 2008 and 2012 World Championship finals.

Despite his defeat, Carter did knock in a 127 break in the 13th frame of the final to set the record for most centuries in the tournament, with his nine beating the record of eight which had been held by O’Sullivan.

“It’s been a good week. Plenty of centuries and £100,000 in the bank – it’s not bad is it?” added Carter.
